Disney Cruise Line's new private destination, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, officially opened this week on Eleuthera Island in The Bahamas. This retreat blends Bahamian culture with Disney's signature entertainment, offering various activities for guests of all ages, including nature trails, a water play area, and stunning beaches.

Disney leadership has managed a 25+ year-long partnership with the Bahamian community, allowing Lookout Cay to offer a uniquely authentic Bahamian experience. The new private island paradise features design and architecutre inspired by Bahamian culture, created with local artists. Guests will see vibrant, oversized seashell structures and Bahamian-inspired colors and art at dining pavilions, bars, and the Goombay Cultural Center. This center celebrates Bahamian history and hosts activities like the "Sights and Sounds of Junkanoo" workshop, where families learn about Junkanoo traditions from local artisans.

Entertainment on the island features uniquely local experience as well as classic Disney offerings. Local Junkanoo groups perform twice daily, leading guests to the Goombay Cultural Center in a parade. The Play-Play Pavilion hosts the "Disney Fun in the Sun Beach Bash," featuring games and Disney characters with Bahamian renditions of Disney songs. Characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse wear unique outfits designed by Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett, embodying the spirit of Junkanoo with local materials like raffia.

The destination offers family-friendly and adult-exclusive beaches, with private cabanas available for reservation. The Rush Out, Gush Out Water Play area suits all ages, while Sebastian’s Cove offers youth activities. Serenity Bay provides a tranquil setting for adults. Active guests can explore the Nature Trail, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and bronze sculptures representing local wildlife. Those wishing to explore beyond the destination can join Port Adventures, developed with local tour operators. These excursions include private history and cultural tours, buggy excursions, scuba tours, and catamaran sailings.

Dining at Disney Lookout Cay features Bahamian-inspired dishes across several pavilions. Guests can enjoy local favorites like Bahamian pigeon peas and rice, lime-marinated grilled snapper, barbecue ribs, island-spiced rotisserie chicken, and grilled cheeseburgers. Four bars serve ice-cold beverages, with specialty frozen drinks available at Sandsational Smoothies. The signature cocktail, Eleuthera Euphoria, blends premium aged rum with a pineapple smoothie and candy garnish.

Guests can purchase local artwork and Disney merchandise at the destination's shops. Treasures of Eleuthera offers unique gifts and artisan crafts from Bahamian artists, while Disney T’ings features Disney Junkanoo-inspired clothing and accessories.
